Donald Trump’s administration is in panic mode today after a top Department of Education official resigned and issued a major warning to the American people on his way out the door.
Occupy Democrats reported that James Runcie, Chief Operating Officer of the Office of Federal Student Aid, announced that he was resigning on Wednesday as a protest against Betsy DeVos. He revealed that the Secretary of Education had ordered him to testify in front of the House Oversight Committee, saying that she him on record discussing the costs of improper student aid.
Concerned that he was being used as a prop in the forwarding of the toxic Trump education agenda, Runcie decided to resign rather than compromise his beliefs.
“I cannot in good conscience continue to be accountable as Chief Operating Officer given the risk associated with the current environment at the Department,” said Runcie in his resignation memo.
Runcie, who had been appointed by Barack Obama, went on to slam DeVos for “diverting critical resources” from his office.
Runcie’s resignation comes as a disturbing warning to the American people about the direction Trump and DeVos are taking education in this country. Clearly, DeVos is on a mission to destroy public education in the U.S., and she’s willing to plow through anyone that stand in her way in achieving this goal.
