Great Britain’s Prince Harry has been raised his entire life to be proper, polite, and politically correct. But, according to reports from the Daily Mail, it was difficult, even for him, to maintain his smile when he met, for the first time, First Lady of the United States, the Slovenian-born Melania Trump.
“Harry initially appeared awkward when he was introduced to the Slovenian former model,” explained the Mail, “smiling brightly for the cameras before letting it drop as he turned away.”
The two met in Toronto, Canada’s, Sheraton Hotel, both being in the area for the Prince’s Invictus Games, which, according to the Game’s website, is an “adaptive sport event for injured, ill and wounded servicemen and women and veterans.”
While this was Melania’s first solo trip outside of the United States since becoming First Lady, it was not the first time she met with royalty. Images on the Daily Mail’s website show Melania and Donald, just after they were married, meeting Prince Charles at an art event in NY City.
Prince Harry and Melania, who was the leader of the US delegation to this international sporting event, had a brief tête-à-tête, during which they discussed the Invictus Games’ success.
After his meeting with Melania, Prince Harry then went on to participate in an event put on by Invictus sponsor, Land Rover, in which he flashed a very genuine smile while went for a spin in a miniature vehicle.
Harry then met up with Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau, son of former Canadian Prime Minister, Pierre Trudeau, and also friend of Harry’s girlfriend, Suits actress Meghan Markle.
Melania departed for the Sheraton, where she participated in a reception with the Invictus Games’ Team USA athletes, where she gave an inspiring (yeah) speech which she completed in under two minutes (if you’ve ever seen her try to speak English you’ll understand why this was a good thing for all involved).
