The Secretary of the Treasury’s wife, Louise Linton, grabbed national attention with her tone-deaf and condescending response to a critic on Instagram.
Responses to a photo posted of herself existing a U.S. Air Force jet in head-to-toe high-end clothes did not get the sort of attention Linton was hoping for. Now, the brands that she aligned herself with are distancing themselves from Linton along with the controversy she’s created.
“Valentino quickly denied any ties to Linton, as did Tom Ford. A Valentino rep told WWD, ‘Louise Linton did not receive any gifted merchandise, compensation or loans from Valentino’” as reported by Page Six.
Linton had been guaranteed to appear at many upscale events coming up such as the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, the Public Library’s Library Lions Gala, and Fashion Week’s Dressed to Kilt Benefit, but the future of those events looks very grim for the newlywed.
“Louise won’t be invited to Fashion Week or the big galas. And she certainly won’t be appearing in Vogue, if her wedding pictures [with Trump] hadn’t already killed her chances with Ann Wintour.”
This all started when a total stranger on Instagram commented on her photo saying, “Glad we could pay for your little getaway #deplorable.”
The 36-year-old Scottish actress went on the defense with a ton-deaf response dripping with arrogance.
“Have you given more to the economy than me and my husband? Either as an individual earner in taxes OR in self sacrifice [sic] to your country? I’m pretty sure we paid more taxes toward our day “trip” than you did… You’re adorably out of touch,” Linton said back to the stranger.
A request for the records for Steven Mnuchin’s trip to Fort Knox in Kentucky has been filed by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW).
Linton had accompanied her husband on a “#daytrip” government trip funded by taxpayers, which was timed perfectly so the two could enjoy the solar eclipse.
Had she behaved with more class, maybe she would have been able to avoid ruining her reputation just to berate one stranger on the internet.
