The Ellen DeGeneres Show is off-limits to Donald Trump.
DeGeneres recently had Megyn Kelly as a guest on her talk show, where she and Kelly discussed, among other things, Kelly’s new NBC morning show, and Donald Trump’s long-standing grudge against her and his bizarre Twitter campaign to ruin her career as a journalist, by urging his Twitter followers to boycott Kelly.
How effective was Trump’s vindictive attempt to hurt Kelly’s popularity? Said a grinning Kelly, “My ratings only went up during my year of Trump.”
DeGeneres asked the former Fox host whether she would allow Donald Trump to make an appearance on her show, if the opportunity arose. Kelly, whose long-standing feud became public at the first Republican primary debate in August of 2016, replied, “Definitely!”
Continued Kelly, “I mean, I wouldn’t say no to the sitting president of the United States. Absolutely not. Would you?”
DeGeneres replied with a simple, straightforward, “Yeah.”
As Kelly laughed, DeGeneres explained, “He is who he is. He has enough attention. He has his Twitter account and he has ways to get his message across. There’s nothing I’m going to say to him that’s gonna change him.”
DeGeneres continued, “I don’t want to give him a platform because it validates him. For me to have someone on the show, I have to at least admire them in some way. I can’t have someone that I feel is not only dangerous for the country and for me personally as a gay woman, but to the world.”
“He is dividing all of us. I just don’t want him on the show.”
